Jesse on Invalidation and Flash Player

I have recently been working with, and trying to provide feedback to, Jesse Warden who has had several postings on mobile development in Flash. I feel his pain with trying to find the "sweet spot" for mobile development. I believe it is there, and every day I feel closer to finding it, or maybe I have found it and just don't know it yet. Jesse has a ton of useful thoughts but I don't think he has his conclusion just yet. Check out his post.

Mobile development is one of those areas where I feel you have to approach it in a take-no-prisoners performance-first manner. So much of what we do to ease development impacts performance in small ways that don’t matter – until you’re dealing with slow processors and small amounts of RAM. Particularly when you’re creating a framework, as Jesse’s attempting, you should be extremely mindful of performance. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been frustrated by Flash frameworks that had so much overhead there was no room for my data!
I think the “sweet spot” would be a compiler that performed every last nasty performance optimization for you, and left you free to architect your code in a way that makes sense to humans.
